Five decades of Italian engineering

Founded in 1969 by Pietro Aceti in Bergamo, Italy. Part of SCM Group since 2002. More than 10,000 machines built for aerospace, automotive, Formula 1 and renewable energy. For a buyer in India that means a structure proven on the largest aerospace parts, and a spares and service chain ABS has run for 25 years.

A high-speed monobloc 5-axis CNC machining center with a small footprint, a high-load worktable and no need for special foundations.
- 2.0 × 2.6 mWorktable
- 24 or 32 kWElectrospindle (S1)
- 24,000 rpmSpindle speed
Monobloc 5-axis machining centers
Integrated machining centers for vertical and horizontal milling of composites, aluminium and metals. Rigid structures hold accuracy over years of production and deliver a high level of finish.

- up to 32 kWSpindle (S1)
- 24,000°/minRotary rapids, torque heads
Gantry 5-axis machining centers for large aerospace parts
5-axis gantry machining centers for large work areas, with the rigidity, speed and finish quality that aerospace structures demand, also proven on automotive, rail and marine parts.

- 12–32 kWElectrospindles
Bridge 5-axis machining centers for panels and long parts
3-, 4- or 5-axis machining centers for high-speed work on large panels and long, narrow parts in composites, aluminium and sandwich materials, with high-precision guides and racks for geometric accuracy.

A hybrid machine that prints large thermoplastic composite parts and then mills them on 5 axes, with no manual changeover.
- 3.4–5.8 mX axis
- 10 kg/hE1 extruder
- 16 m/minPrinting speed
Large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM)
Developed by CMS with Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute since 2018. Kreator prints the part near net shape in thermoplastic composite, then mills it to finish on the same machine.

5-axis machining centers, explained
Short answers to the questions we are asked most often before a machine is specified.
What decides the price of a CMS 5-axis machining center?
Mostly the size of the working area, the head and spindle power, and the table setup: single, twin or rotating. Options add to it, such as a dry or cutting-fluid version, the tool magazine, automatic pallet change and the choice of CNC. Send us your part drawing, material and annual volume and we will quote the configuration that fits.
3-axis, 3+2 or 5-axis: which do I need?
A 3-axis machine cuts from one direction. 3+2 tilts the head to a fixed angle, then cuts on three axes. Continuous 5-axis moves all five axes together to follow curved surfaces, which trimming formed composite parts and machining aerostructures usually need. Every CMS family here is built for 5-axis work; MX5 also takes 3-axis units, and MBB and FXB 3- or 4-axis units.
Monobloc, gantry or bridge: what is the difference?
A monobloc builds frame and table into one structure: compact, often needing no special foundation, for parts up to 6 m long on the ARES. A gantry spans the table on rails, with X strokes up to 20.5 m (Ethos, Concept) or 41.5 m (Poseidon) for large parts and moulds. Bridge machines (MBB, FXB) suit large panels and nested sheet parts.
Can one machine cut carbon fiber (CFRP) and aluminium?
Yes. Most CMS centers here are built for composites, aluminium and light alloys alike; the version decides the rest. Dry machining suits carbon fiber, while cutting-fluid and flood versions, such as the Kyros and the Antares MK3 Flood, suit aluminium. Tell us your mix and volumes, and our application engineers prove the process on your own parts before the machine ships.
